The Cabbage Soup Diet Review
There’s a very simple explanation for the cabbage soup diet - FRAUD. There’s really no need for further explanation. But for those who insist here is more.
The inventor of the cabbage soup diet isn’t known. It first appeared in the early 1980s, faxed from person to person like a chain letter. The diet went under many names, often using a part of the name of a well respected institution such as the Russian peasant diet, or the St. Jude’s diet. Needless to say, the diet has no relation to any of the institutions, nations, or people used in these names.
Water is important in the cabbage soup diet, often the only drink allowed in the course of the day. Here’s how the diet works.
Day one — cabbage soup and fruit, but not bananas.
Day two — cabbage soup plus vegetables, which could include a half baked potato with no butter.
Day three — cabbage soup plus vegetables and fruit, not including bananas or potato.
Day four — cabbage soup, eight bananas, skimmed milk.
Day five – cabbage soup and as much as 20 ounces of beef, as well as 6 tomatoes.
Day six — cabbage soup, unlimited beef, and any vegetables except potatoes.
Day seven — cabbage soup, brown rice, vegetables, unsweetened fruit juice, but no potatoes.
The cabbage soup diet claims that people can lose 10 pounds in only one week. While it may be possible, most of that weight will be water weight. A week is simply too short a time in which to lose 10 pounds of fat. It is however, possible to get sick from a lack of nutrition which is one danger with the cabbage soup diet.
In addition the cabbage soup diet isn’t easy. In general this isn’t because it’s difficult to understand but rather because cabbage soup isn’t a lot of fun. It was common for people to last only a couple of days before quitting. There were even attempts to spice up cabbage soup recipes but they failed.
Realistically people don’t need a fad diet like the cabbage soup diet to lose weight. Losing weight is a simple matter of eating less, and becoming more active.
